    Every answer moves a slider across eight dimensions. A situation you have never seen is removed from the calculation, not counted as zero.

The eight dimensions

None is good or bad. The report explains the cost and the benefit of each position.

There is no good or bad profile. What matters is the combination of dimensions.

  • Fear and caution

    Noises, surfaces, unfamiliar places. What happens before they have assessed anything.

  • Separation related behaviour

    What happens between the door closing and them lying back down.

  • Sociability with dogs

    Passing on lead, meeting off lead, what they do with the last five metres.

  • Sociability with people

    The doorbell, visitors, a hand arriving above their head.

  • Self control

    How fast they go up, and above all how fast they come back down.

  • Attachment

    The distance they choose for themselves when nobody is asking anything.

  • Cooperation

    Recall, the unprompted check in, the appetite to do something with you.

  • Chase drive

    Cats, bikes, runners. The oldest sequence they carry.

Common questions

Is the result free?

The archetype and a first reading of the profile are free. The detailed report is a one off payment.

Do I need an account?

No. At the end of the test you get a code that finds your dog's profile again.

Is the payment one off?

Yes. €6.90 for the full report, no subscription.

Is this a diagnosis?

No. MyDogType is an educational behaviour tool. It replaces neither a vet, nor a veterinary behaviourist, nor a dog trainer.

Can I test several dogs?

Yes. Each dog has their own profile and their own code. A second dog's report unlocks at €4.90 instead of €6.90.

What are the eight dimensions based on?

The structure draws on behavioural dimensions studied in the literature and in recognised questionnaires such as C-BARQ and MCPQ-R. The situations and the way MyDogType reports them were written specifically for this tool. More about our method

Are my answers kept?

For three years, so your code keeps working and comparison stays possible. Deleted on request.

Can my dog change profile?

Some tendencies are fairly stable, but age, surroundings, training and experience do move certain behaviours.

MyDogType is an educational web application: the report is generated automatically from your answers, with no human involvement. It replaces neither a vet, nor a veterinary behaviourist, nor a professional dog trainer.
